Sept 3 – Be Your Own Cheerleader

Instead of being your harshest critic (I know this is something I have to work at), practice speaking kindly to yourself. A little self-compassion goes a long way in boosting your mood and productivity.

Strengths and qualities related to this action include:
🎉 Self-compassion
🎉 Positivity
🎉 Resilience
🎉 Optimism
🎉 Courage
🎉 Possibility thinking
🎉 Growth mindset

Do you ever find the self confidence and inner critic gremlins invading your thoughts at work or other areas of your life with negative self-talk or harsh inner criticism?

Perhaps they stop you from putting forward suggested solutions to problems/challenges in meetings/with your team? …… “nobody is going to listen to me” ….. “it’s a stupid idea, not worth mentioning”

Or perhaps, they hold you back from telling someone how you really feel …..

Or even having a go at an activity you’ve been interested in for a long time, but haven’t had the nerve to take the first step.

You’re not alone …. we can be our harshest critic ❤️‍🩹

Below are some strategies for helping you to develop and practice being your biggest cheerleader.

đź’š I like using resources available on the ‘Amazing If’ website, including listening to their podcasts about taming  those self confidence gremlins

đź’š Replace critical thoughts with a positive mantra…. reframe your thoughts from a fixed mindset (probability thinking) to a growth mindset full of possibility thinking

Below is a link to a ‘growth mindset’ post I wrote in 2020, about how I had help from my “Covid lock down buddy” who quickly got to know me on a deep level, and saw how I was constantly doubting my self worth and disguised this by burrying myself in work.

He helped me to adopt a growth mindset and become my own Cheerleader, and I’ll always be grateful for his support at a time when I had lost my sense of self… he honestly helped me to ‘feel alive’ again 🙏

I’ll be honest, I hadn’t read this post in a few years. Re-reading it tonight, was quite raw for me, but it has made me realise how far I’ve come along in believing in myself and decisions I’m making across all pillars of my life

Develop a Growth Mindset

đź’š Practice daily affirmations to build a habit
