Work-Life Harmony: What’s it All About?

Becoming seriously ill recently forced me to hit pause on the constant buzz of life, and it was a wake-up call I didn’t know I needed.

As I am recovering, I find myself drawn to books in my collection that I had previously read or are on my “to read list.” It is taking me time to read them, but that is okay (think of the story of the tortoise and the hare 🐢🐇)

Some of the books and resources I’m currently reading

I had previously started exploring ideas around forest bathing, walking in nature, mindfulness, and “flow.” Books like The Hidden Life of Trees reminded me of how much nature can teach us about slowing down and finding connection—not just with the world around us (including work), but within ourselves too.

This pause also got me thinking about resilience, purpose, and how we approach productivity. Ideas like “slow productivity” and ikigai—a sense of meaning—are helping me rethink what a “balanced” life looks like, where personal life and work are in harmony.

I’m reflecting and planning at the moment about how I can further build these into my life and also my approach to supporting clients

I have noticed many people commenting recently on LinkedIn etc, how tired and exhausted they are feeling, which seems to have continued to increase since the pandemic.

I’ve also had conversations where people have commented about how other people constantly expect them to be contactable at anytime of the day, with expectations of prompt response times. How is this conducive to supporting our mental and physical wellbeing?

It’s not about doing it all but doing what matters most with intention. And when burnout feels like it’s lurking, leaning into emotional intelligence and mindfulness can be powerful ways to reset and recharge.

Life will always have its demands with ebbs and flow on our time, but this experience has shown me the value of stepping back and re-evaluating what harmony really means.

For me, it’s about finding a pace that feels sustainable, meaningful, and full of quiet moments to breathe, relax, and enjoy life.

🟢 How do you create harmony between your personal and work life?

Throughout 2025, I will talk more about these topics and am planning some interesting workshops and resources to develop self-clarity to support work-life harmony
